About Me
Welcome. I'm an artist and art publisher based on the Central Coast of NSW, Darkinjung Country.
I’ve been making etchings and paintings for quite a while now. So many artworks have come and gone over the years. In my former working life I was a tradesman -working on and repairing machinery, welding, making components, that sort of thing. I worked at a Paper Mill, a biscuit factory, on boats….I’ve always used my hands, right to this day running an art business.
During my mid-twenties I found a new direction in my life. I went to the University of Tasmania after some earlier endeavours making art in Brisbane. Ok but I’m originally a boy from Sydney.
My formal training in etching and painting started at the art school campus situated on the Hobart waterfront from 1996 to 1999. It was an old jam factory re-fitted into an art school. Techniques I learnt there have been developing ever since. After my time at the school I ran an artist-run gallery at Salamanca Place in Hobart for a couple of years. Returning to Sydney I moved on to many studios and locations, finally settling in the Budgewoi area.
Etching is a highly developed skill which involves a design made into a copper engraving and then printed on a high-pressure press.
I’m a hands on artist. I make frames for my work, and also run a small graphic printing shop for my art stationary and calendars. Many moving parts to how I design, produce and make my artwork.
Australian nature themes are at the heart of artwork , particularly birds and plants or anything in between. I approach subjects as a new experience of understanding- a little science, its character and its place in the world.
My artworks can be seen at art fairs, gallery consignment, events such as the Melbourne Flower and Garden Show and the Floriade Spring Festival in Canberra. Henderson Greetings is a major distributor of my cards.
Hope you enjoy viewing my art.
